Faces Places and Things > Heceta Head lighthouse is located north of Florence. This 56-foot tower was first lit in 1894. Named after Don Bruno de Heceta, a Spanish explorer.
Faces Places and Things > Lunar Light: Taken on August 28, 2007 on the evening of a total lunar eclipse in Junction City Oregon. The goal of the shot was not to capture the eclipse, but to capture the full moon light on the hills and the lone tree. This was a 15 second exposure.
Faces Places and Things > Holy Parking: I work in downtown Seattle. Everyday I park on the same floor of the same garage. I see the same people and the same things. One day, I saw this glow come from behind an expansion joint in the garage that back lit this tie back brace. It then struck me how it looked like a cross. It was an ordinary day, just new light that allowed me to see this image. Just goes to prove, even the dull mundane things we see everyday can make a nice image. Faces Places and Things > I had the distinct pleasure of photographing Professional Baseball while at home in Texas. The Rangers were my favorite team for one simple reason, Nolan Ryan. For my birthday in 1993 I was treated to a photo pass to shoot what was to be Nolan's final game at the Ball Park In Arlington. During warm up, I took over 200 pictures. When he was done I simply said, "Mr. Ryan, do you mind posing for me." Nolan moved over, fixed his hat and allowed me to take this shot. To date this is one of my most prized photographs. Nolan Ryan is one of the greatest to have ever played the game and I consider myself fortunate to have had the pleasure to not only speak with him from time to time, but for him to have allowed me to take this picture. (I like Nolan so much I named my son Ryan) This is a scan of the original photograph. Taken with a Minolta Maxxum 9000.
